Nelson Named to New Role in Catholic Schools Office

Chris Nelson has been named the new coordinator of professional development for the Archdiocese of Omaha’s Catholic Schools Office at the start of the 2017-2018 school year. For the past six years, Nelson has been the principal at Holy Cross Catholic School, a member of the Omaha Catholic School Consortium.

In this newly created position, Nelson will work closely with administrators and faculty at archdiocesan schools to assist them with implementing best educational practices for the nearly 20,000 students within the Archdiocese of Omaha Schools.

“Chris has been an integral part of the success of the Omaha Catholic School Consortium in leading educational initiatives that are being replicated by archdiocesan elementary schools outside of the Consortium,” said Donna Bishop, Omaha Catholic School assistant superintendent and Consortium executive director.

Nelson taught grades second through eighth for over 17 years. This school year will mark her tenth year in school administration and her sixth year as principal at Holy Cross.

“I thank God every day for bringing me to Holy Cross and for allowing me to be part of this special community.  I look forward to remaining active in Holy Cross Parish, while expanding my role to help Holy Cross and our other Archdiocesan schools as we provide quality Catholic education to the children of our Archdiocese.”
