Before the new school year officially started for students, Consortium staff had the chance to unite in faith and recommit to our shared mission in Catholic education at an All-Staff Mass and Commissioning, hosted at Our Lady of Lourdes (OLL).
The Mass took place during one of Nebraska’s infamous summer rainstorms—so much so that the OLL gym began to flood! Fr. Vitalis, one of the Consortium’s supporting priests, celebrated the Mass and reflected on the many blessings being showered on our staff that morning. In his homily, tied beautifully to the Feast of the Transfiguration, he reminded us that God invites us each day to be transformed by His love—and through our roles in the Consortium, to transform the lives of others: our co-workers, students, families, and community.
Nearly 150 Consortium staff members took part in the commissioning ceremony and received a final blessing. The celebration was made even more special by music provided by members of the OCSC team.
After the Mass, staff spent time preparing for the school year, and we all enjoyed lunch together.
Our executive director, Shannan Brommer, also offered gratitude and remarks to our staff, which can be read below.

Welcome to the new school year! It is so right to launch the year together and be centered around the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and to recommission or newly commission ourselves to our collective mission, our vision and to our varied vocations in Catholic education.
Last year, we launched a new Omaha Catholic School Consortium strategic plan with goals aligned to three pillars: Excellence in Faith Formation, Excellence in Education and Excellence in our Administrative and Organizational functions. Your efforts throughout the year resulted in many accomplishments, and we remain committed to these pillars of excellence entering the new school year.
All of this is to ensure we are doing everything we can to guide our students toward that awesome discovery of their God-given potential. To help them see who God lovingly created them to be.
You, along with the entire Consortium team, are making excellence happen.
…and let’s build on that momentum this year!
Together we are expanding our reach: more people are investing in us, making charitable gifts that say: “Yes, I believe in you and want to be part of this amazing journey.” Our enrollment is trending in the right direction. More and more people in our community are telling our story with pride and encouragement.
During the summer months, the Administrators, Leadership Team, central office and many others worked hard to plan for ways to impact our strategic goals.
When I invite people to invest in the Consortium and our mission, I often say to them: “You are supporting the miracles that happen in our schools every day.” I sincerely thank you for witnessing God’s love and goodness to our students and school communities and to one another – You are making these miracles happen every day.
I wish you abundant patience, endurance, joy, friendship and many miracles this school year. Thank you and God bless you.
